CELSTEC is working on the following European projects:
This project will provide (semi-)automatic services for feedback that require no or very limited tutor-based support and are able to analyse interactions between students and textual output. A knowledge sharing infrastructure (combining domain ontologies and social tagging) will allow for comparing and exchanging of individual knowledge, leading to new common knowledge. The project will make extensive use of language technologies to situate the learners in their domain.

COOPER's aim is to support individual and collective competency building in virtual teams working together in projects to solve complex problems with members who are geographically dispersed, and have got different backgrounds and competencies. Expected results are a reference model for cooperative teamwork processes; interoperable and validated pedagogical scenarios and assessment strategies; tools to support knowledge co-construction, sharing and re-use; and a software platform which integrates these models, scenarios, strategies and tools. The learning contexts targeted are graduate (or post-graduate) university studies, corporate universities and training at the workplace.

ALFANET has developed a set of components for course designers, primarily for adult education within companies. The key innovations include dynamic adaptation, which allows tailoring courses to individual preferences such as profile, background and interests of the learners, but also adapting the material according to their evolution on the course. The ALFANET system is a Web-based open source platform compliant with current standards that can be integrated with other e-learning systems.

eLearnTN created a thematic network in the field of higher education as a preliminary step leading to the creation of a European wide research group. TENCompetence aims at supporting individuals, groups and organisations in lifelong competence development, embracing primary, secondary and higher education, professional training and informal learning. RTD activities intend to further develop and integrate models and tools for the creation, storage and exchange of knowledge resources, learning activities and units of learning, competence development programmes and social exchange mechanisms to stimulate the exchange, sharing and support between the individuals, teams and organisations. Result of the project will be an infrastructure for 'learning networks', consisting of individuals, teams and organisations actively involved in the various occupations and domains of knowledge: learners, educational institutes, libraries, publishers, domain specific vendors, employers, associations, and others who deliver services or products related to learning.

This co-ordination action aimed at accelerating the adoption and further development of standards for e-learning systems in Europe, namely the IMS Learning Design specification.
