Subject-specific research

School members spend about 20 percent of their time on average on research and keeping abreast of developments in their particular field. Open Universiteit encourages its staff to complete their PhD research, to publish, and to conduct research, if possible with the help of external sources of funding. It also seeks to co-operate with sister institutions on research projects.

The schools take stock of their research projects and interests. The aim is to cluster them into research themes and explore new avenues for research funding. The provisional results of this process are given for each school:

  • School of Cultural Studies
  • School of Law
  • School of Psychology
  • School of Natural Sciences
  • School of Informatics
  • School of Management
