The Open University of the Netherlands has knowledge which is important for people and groups outside the student population. This knowledge is generated as part of the primary process of developing and offering education and conducting research. Especially when it comes to innovation in education the Open University can be a welcome partner.

Also on themes considered important for the Open University knowledge is available that can also be highly relevant to others. This is certainly the case for the themes of Sustainable Development (SD) and Open Educational Resources (OER). The contribution of Open University to these themes is highly appreciated both nationally and internationally.
To underline the social responsibility of Open University on the two themes a collaboration with UNESCO, as a network for social development through education, is sought. Together with UNESCO, it is possible both at national and international levels to realize a significant contribution.
