Chair in Environmental Policy (0.4 fte)

Research expertise and interests: policy learning, policy change, and policy innovation. Environmental issues are increasingly complex and we are facing situations where surprise is the norm. This means that policy learning and policy innovation are essential. My agenda is to study ways of enhancing learning and innovation. This means I have engaged with the literatures on various approaches to achieve this, such as policy evaluation and assessment, serious gaming, policy experiments, adaptive management, etc. I am however also interested in agency by so called policy entrepreneurs, that is those people that manage to get policy systems moving through their political actions after enough has been learned about new policy approaches. In most of my work I rely on conceptual frameworks from the policy sciences (Kingdon, Sabatier, Ostrom, Baumgartner and Jones, etc.). I am very much open to supervise PhD students that fit in this research line and look forward to hearing from you if you're interested.

Leeropdracht (OU: 0,4 fte): Milieutoekomstverkenningen (Environmental Outlook Studies)

Onderzoeksexpertise en -interesses: Main research fields: Environmental Outlook Studies, Environmental Systems Analysis, Integrated Assessment, Pollution Management, Environmental Modeling.
Projects: Integrated assessment studies, with special emphasis on nutrient cycling in terrestrial and aquatic systems, and modeling of pollution problems. The research includes scenario analyses and evaluation of environmental policies aiming at simultaneous abatement of multiple environmental pollution problems.
