Expertise

De heer Hummel bechikt over deskundigheid op het gebied van afstandsonderwijs met name vanwege zijn ervaring met ontwerp, ontwikkeling en kwaliteitszorg van (innovatief) afstandsonderwijs. Hij heeft zich in zijn werk met name gericht op het realiseren van competentiegericht onderwijs binnen elektronische leeromgevingen, waaronder de ontwikkeling van authentieke virtuele praktijkconfrontaties (te zien als innovatieve vormen van werkplekleren met ICT). In het bijzonder was hij betrokken bij het ontwerp, acceptatie en disseminatie van de IMS-LD (Learning Design, 2003) leertechnologie specificatie. De heer Hummel was themaleider ‘Navigation Services’ binnen het Learning Networks programma (2003-2007), waar hij onder meer het ISIS project (2006-2008) leidde. Hij was themaleider ‘Immersive Media’ binnen het Learning Media programma en leidde onder meer het EMERGO project (2006-2008), welke een bekroonde (Comenius Multimedia Award 2008) methode en toolkit voor de ontwikkeling van serious games heeft opgeleverd. Vanaf februari 2009 is Hummel benoemd tot lector ‘Werkplekleren en ICT’ binnen het Instituut Educatie en Communicatie (IEC) van de Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden.

Het laatste decennium is het accent van zijn werk verschoven in de richting van onderwijstechnologisch onderzoek naar innovatieve media en leertechnologieën voor onderwijs. De heer Hummel heeft zitting genomen in tientallen (internationale) programma comités, zit in de editorial board van enkele wetenschappelijke tijdschriften, en heeft inmiddels ongeveer 100 (internationale) publicaties in peer-reviewed tijdschriften en boeken op zijn naam staan. Ook ontwikkelde hij (voor Noordhoff uitgeverij) een zestal populair-wetenschappelijke uitgaven voor het verwerven van algemene competenties op het gebied van onderzoek, communicatie en projectmanagement (combinaties van boek en interactief programma).
