The main objective of learning analytics is to unveil previously hidden information from educational data to gain new insights and to provide feedback about these gained insights to different educational stakeholders (e.g. learners, teachers, parents, and managers).
This information can support individual learning and enhance teaching quality, but can also improve organisational knowledge about management processes as well as system administration. Learning analytics involves various pre-processing steps from basic information models to the structuring of data, e.g. data harvesting, data storing, data cleaning, data anonymisation, data mining, data analysis, and data visualisation.
