Course on open online education in collaboration with the UN training centre
Marco Kalz and Martine Schophuizen of the Welten Institute are the teachers in the new open online course on Open Online Education presented by the International Training Centre (ITC) of the UN International Labour Organisation (ILO). The course explores theoretical and applied issues related to how the internet and networking technologies have enabled new learning models mediated by digital resources. For learners, Open Education offers an alternative path for education, competence development and professionalization beyond the traditional borders of educational institutions.

Target audience and objectives

The course is for trainers, information technology (IT) specialists and managers of public and private training institutions involved in the design and implementation of training activities. They learn to define why Open Education is relevant; to identify the different options for development and implementation of Open Education, to understand evaluation approaches for Open Online Education and to identify challenges and define solutions for scalability.
