Writing secrets
This free course starts with a simple introduction to writing secrets, revisiting the cryptographic techniques used by the Romans and the Spartans which still provide the underlying principles of modern-day cryptography. It then deals with public-key cryptography and explains how this works. The final part of the course discusses the ways in which internet security is built from cryptographic building blocks and includes a discussion about digital signatures, certificate chains and hash chains.
