Writing secrets

This free course starts with a simple introduction to writing secrets, revisiting the cryptographic techniques used by the Romans and the Spartans which still provide the underlying principles of modern-day cryptography. It then deals with public-key cryptography and explains how this works. The final part of the course discusses the ways in which internet security is built from cryptographic building blocks and includes a discussion about digital signatures, certificate chains and hash chains.

About the MOOC

This MOOC is made up of regular video broadcasts and accompanying study materials and will run for four weeks, the course leaders are Hugo Jonker (Faculty Management, Science & Technology), Alessandra Antonaci (Welten Institute) and Roland Klemke (Welten Institute)
