Paul Kirschner installed as inaugural fellow of ISLS
The International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS) has installed prof. dr. Paul Kirschner as one of the Inaugural Fellows of ISLS. His nomination was announced during the closing session of the CSCL 2017 conference in Philadelphia.

The International Society of the Learning Sciences Board of Directors has voted to establish a Fellows program serving three main goals:

  • Honor those who have made major research accomplishments in advancing the field of the Learning Sciences.
  • Identify people who continue to take leadership roles in ISLS and serve as role models for others in the field. 
  • Build a respected cohort of leaders who sustain the ISLS community and advance its broader value and visibility.

About Paul A. Kirschner

Paul A. Kirschner (1951) is university professor of the Open University of the Netherlands and visiting professor Education, more specifically learning and interaction in the Learning & Educational Technology Research Unit at the University of Oulu, Finland. He is an internationally renowned expert in his field. His expertise includes lifelong learning, computer assisted collaborative learning, design of electronic and other innovative learning environments, the use of media in education, development of teacher extensive (distance) education materials, competencies and the use of educational technologies in education. In September 2016 he was nominated a NIAS/NSvP-research fellow and in 2017 he received a honorary doctorate of the Finnish University of Oulu.
