Symposium March 14: Cybersecurity challenges and paradoxes in software, humans, and AI
On Friday, March 14, 2025, Open Universiteit is organizing a symposium covering various aspects of cybersecurity. The four invited speakers will delve into software security, the human factor in cybersecurity, and cybersecurity and AI. Following the symposium, Harald Vranken, Professor of Cybersecurity, will deliver his inaugural lecture titled: 'Cybersecurity: pompen of verzuipen'.
Lecture Topics
- Dr. Erik Poll focuses on software security. He presents an overview of developments and trends in software security and policies over the past two decades.
- Prof. Dr. Ir. Wolter Pieters discusses the human factor in cybersecurity. He addresses challenges in behavioral change and paradoxical views on the role of humans in cybersecurity and AI.
- Prof. Dr. Ir. Lieven Desmet and Dr. Vera Rimmer jointly explore cybersecurity and AI. They discuss how AI can be applied to enhance cybersecurity and also examine challenges in securing AI systems.
The symposium is moderated by Dr. Fabian van den Broek, Open Universiteit.
