The 17th International Conference on Relational and Algebraic Methods in Informatics (RAMICS 2018), organized by the Open University of the Netherlands, will take place in Groningen from 29 October to 2 November 2018. It is the 17th edition of a series, which started in 1994 and in which scientists from all continents try to apply this specific mathematical subject in computer science. The Open University is hosting this year's conference because of the Ampersand research, where researchers from the Faculty of Management, Science & Technology apply relationship algebra for the design of correct information systems. Stef Joosten, professor of informatics and information science: 'We are proud to host this small but prestigious scientific conference.'
Ampersand is used in the curricula Computer Science and Business Process Management and IT in the course 'Designing with Business Rules'. It is also used in companies such as Ordina and TNO.
