Learning and innovation for Resilient Social-Ecological Systems
In 2020 the new research programme of the department of Environmental Sciences has been published. The programme is titled: Learning and innovation for Resilient Social-Ecological Systems (LIRSS). The department wants to contribute with its research to finding ways to a sustainable future. The research contributes to a better understanding of socio-ecological systems, the development of solutions for environmental problems and the knowledge that helps societies to attain their sustainability goals.
Research foci
The Department’s research is highly interdisciplinary whereby three main research foci can be distinguished:
- integrated environmental modelling of socio-ecological systems
- learning for sustainability
- innovations in environmental governance.
Context
The disciplinary research of the Department of Environmental Sciences is executed in the context of the multidisciplinary research programme of the OU, Innovating for Resilience, and more specifically within the Learning and Innovation in Resilient Systems (LIRS) research line.
The department of Environmental Sciences forms part of the Faculty of Science.
