  Om mondiale problemen aan te pakken is wetenschappelijke samenwerking van groot belang. UNESCO stimuleert een gezamenlijke aanpak van onderwerpen als klimaatverandering, ethiek, armoede en natuurrampen. Als enige organisatie binnen de VN met een mandaat voor wetenschap stimuleert zij wetenschappelijke samenwerking over de grenzen van disciplines en landen heen.
• UNESCO Network Education for Sustainable Development
  This programme includes several initiatives on diverse topics (climate change education, health promotion, gender equality)
• UNESCO UNITWIN/ Chairs Programme
  This programme promotes international inter-university cooperation and networking to enhance institutional capacities through knowledge sharing and collaborative work.
• VVM, Vereniging van Milieuprofessionals
  De VVM is een kennis- en relatienetwerk voor milieuprofessionals. Niet de genoten opleiding geldt als criterium om lid te worden, maar het werkveld. Door de open cultuur komen intercollegiale contacten tot stand en is het mogelijk om discussie te voeren en opinies te vormen over alle mogelijke milieuonderwerpen. De VVM telt ongeveer 1600 leden.
• Het Groene Brein
  Het Groene Brein is een uniek netwerk van prominente wetenschappers. Samen ontwikkelen zij nieuwe kennis voor de nieuwe economie. Vertegenwoordigers komen uit het bedrijfsleven, de overheid en de wetenschap.
• Copernicus Alliance
  The COPERNICUS Alliance is the European Network on Higher Education for Sustainable Development.
  The vision of the COPERNICUS Alliance is to promote the role of Sustainable Development in European Higher Education to improve education and research for sustainability in partnership with society.
• HESI: Higher Education Sustainability Initiative towards climate change action
  In advance of the XXI Session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP21), the Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI) will organize an event to take stock of progress made since Rio+20 by sharing best practices and lessons learned, discuss the roles and responsibilities of higher education institutions in business and technological innovations around climate change adaptation and mitigation and encourage new or enhanced commitments.
