From historical injustice to empowering futures: the role of marginalized communities and intergenerational values in shaping inclusive sustainability transitions
Polarization hinders participation in sustainability transition. Traditionally, this has been addressed by focusing on inclusivity, participation, or justice. This proposal goes a step further and aims to understand why there is a resistance to sustainability policies. The project will examine how marginalized communities view and experience environmental regulations and broader systemic pressures in their daily lives. By learning from these perspectives, we can develop sustainability transitions that are truly inclusive and effective. To achieve this, the project combines two fields of expertise: environmental policy studies and humanities research on how different groups experience systemic pressures in society.
