Innovating digital assessment: good use of multimedia

Research line: Innovation in Education
PhD research project
Researcher: Andrienne Kerckhoffs
Start 2022

Digital assessment can provide students quickly with feedback and can be designed using different kinds of media, such as video and sound. But it also carries the risk that it overwhelms students.  Good guidelines for the development and design of digital assessments are still missing. This project focuses on the development of an evidence-based guideline for the design of multimedia digital assessments. In order to do so it studies the use of multimedia digital assessments at the Open University, their impact on the assessment results of its students, and the impact the medium type has on the reliability of the test. The study will use eye-trackers as one of the research tools.
